Miyata had great QC and made very nice frames. The 912 was one of their better ones.

"I used to sell Miyata bicycles along side with Schwinn, Trek, Nishiki and Cannondale. Out of all the brands i was familiar with the Miyata had the stiffest frames. You can hammer on the pedals and you wouldnt get as much flex. They were a tad heavier than the other steel frames but they were best for me." link
